The Municipality of Paços de Ferreira is set in a plateau known as Chã de Ferreira, admired for its natural beauties, the amenity of the environment and the humanized landscape arrangement.
Belonging to the district and diocese of Porto, it lies in the Sousa Valley region, about 25 km from the city of Porto, and has 16 parishes, occupying close to 68Km2. The lands of Paços de Ferreira are the most faithful mirror of the area's potential. Integrated in an intermediate area between the developed coast and the deprived interior, Paços de Ferreira occupies a strategic position in the northern area of highest industrial tradition, bordering the region's main industrial poles: to the north and west, the cotton textile basin of the Ave Valley, to the southwest, the Metropolitan Area of Porto, and in the south and east, such centres as Penafiel, Paredes and Lousada, in the Sousa Valley. Thus, the Municipality's physical space and the privileged geographic location, allied to the capacity, valour and merit of its people, allowed to consolidate it as the biggest diffusing centre of the furniture industry.
With the A42 highway, the Municipality is about 10 minutes away from the Metropolitan Area of Porto.
As a consequence, Paços de Ferreira is extremely close (and with excellent accessibilities) to the country's main communication axiss, also connecting to the border:
- Sá Carneiro Airport: 15 minutes;
- Port of Leixões: 20 minutes;
- Railroad station of Campanhã: 15 minutes;
- A1 Highway (Link to Lisbon, the Centre and the South of the Country): 20 minutes (reaching Espinho in 2007); 25 minutes (to Grijó);

- A3 Highway (Link to Minho and Galicia): 10 minutes;
- A11 Highway (Link to Minho): 15 minutes.

Asides from the proximity of these axiss, we must stress that it is possible to establish links to:

- Porto, in 10 minutes;
- Vigo, in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
